ABOUT US

A story born out of love for paper and print history.

Acquiring a 1950s Heidelberg Platen in 2011, soon grew to a small team and a welcoming little studio in an old timber shop on a prominent corner in Brisbane, designing luxury invitations for clients who, like us, value exceptional design and craftsmanship in print.

Today, our clients come to us to make planning invitations easy and enjoyable — whether working closely with you or your planner, we ensure everything fits your vision. We offer a bespoke design service, a variety of printing techniques to suit your budget, and a range of affordable templates and semi-custom invitations that we can personalise for you, tailored to your event styling. We invite you into our purpose-built studio in Geebung where you can explore our in-house printing and letterpress equipment, and peruse our gorgeous wall of invitations designed to inspire and delight!

At Yesterday Creative, our team are dedicated to crafting quality invitations that last a lifetime, and most importantly, leave a lasting impression. We believe a beautifully printed invitation truly sets the tone for your event — when your guest opens the envelope, their experience should be tactile and memorable.

The feedback we constantly receive from our clients? The stationery that we create becomes such a beautiful keepsake that guests find it hard to part with them.

What is Letterpress?

Letterpress is a cherished printing art form dating back centuries. It brings words and illustrations to life through depth and texture, making it perfect for marking life’s most special occasions—whether it’s your wedding, a baby announcement, or a significant birthday celebration.

This traditional technique involves pressing inked designs into soft, luxuriously thick textured paper, leaving an elegant impression you can both see and feel.

In our studio, we honour this craft by blending the old and new. We use our vintage presses to emboss and foil with precision while incorporating modern touches like digital design elements and intricately detailed illustrations drawn by hand or rendered in our design software.

We’ve brought letterpress into the digital age by imprinting QR codes and wedding website URLs ensuring your invitations are both beautiful and practical, helping your guests access all the information they need to know.

Every piece we create celebrates craftsmanship, innovation, and personal expression, resulting in stationery that reflects the care and thought behind your special event.

The people behind the designs

Neisha Phillips

Letterpress Queen, Owner & Studio Manager

Neisha’s background began in marketing in the paper and printing industry, but looking for a change and taking the plunge to business ownership, she went back to her graphic design roots and finally purchased the studio’s first Heidelberg Platen, affectionally nicknamed Patience. One could say it was a labour of love, and a test in patience, teaching herself the craft of letterpress and honing her skills in those early years.

Today she is a nationally awarded printer and graphic designer, studio manager, mum to a little girl and sausage dog who both keep her on her toes when she’s not infront of the letterpress printing up a little magic.

our presses

You could say they do all of the hard work...

"Patience"

heidelberg platen press

Patience is a 1960s Heidelberg Platen - German engineering at its finest. The mechanics that make up this press is what got us hooked. Powered by air suction, they are also known as ‘the windmill’ due to the design of their paper ‘gripper arms’.

Hot Foiling Press

Heidelberg Platen Hot Foiling Press

Our most recent addition to the studio, this press works its magic with a heat-and-pressure combo that transfers stunning foil onto paper, giving our foil prints that irresistible, glossy finish, as well as the beautiful letterpress impression.

"Lawrence"

Arab Treadle Platen

Lawrence is a charming and historic piece of early printing history. Made circa 1890s, this press is an Arab beauty that is treadled by foot and fed paper by hand.

Frequently asked questions

Let's get down to
the finer details

As every couple we work with is different, we offer both custom designs as well as templated designs (Our Signature Collection).

You most certainly can! Get in touch with our team to order a sample pack today. We would love to hear more about your ideas for your event stationery, styling and preferences so we can tailor the sample pack with options that match your vision.

You can contact Yesterday Creative on hello@yesterdaycreative.com or by calling (07) 3189 1528. Alternatively, fill out our quote request form and one of our team will get back to you with a detailed quote.

For Save the Date cards, we suggest sending them out 9 to 12 months before your wedding. This gives your guests plenty of time to mark the date in their calendars, especially for destination weddings.

As for your wedding invitations, aim to send these out 4 to 6 months in advance. This will give your out-of-town guests ample time to make travel arrangements and ensure they can be part of your special day.

To determine the number of invitations required, a good rule of thumb is about 60% of your total guest count. For example, a wedding with a total of 120 guests might only need 60 – 70 invitations printed. Remember — couples and families will typically only require 1 invitation per household. We also recommend adding at least 5 extra sets for any last minute additions, for the photographer on the day, and of course as a keepsake set for yourselves.

Our turn-around time on wedding orders vary depending on the amount of work required, how many stationery items you order, timely supply of wording/artwork feedback, and your chosen print method.

Estimated timeframes are as follows:

Custom Design & Letterpress/ Foil: 4 weeks

Custom Design & Digital Print: 3 weeks

Signature Collection & Letterpress / Foil: 3 weeks

Signature Collection & Digital Print: 2 weeks

*These timeframes are a guideline only and are dependent on timely receipt of wording, guest lists, artwork feedback and final approvals from the client.

in a rush?

If you are concerned about your timeframes and the wedding is drawing near, please call us to discuss your stationery.
Orders can be fast-tracked so please let us know your ideal delivery deadline.

Orders requiring priority production faster than the above timeframes may attract a 50% rush fee.

We don’t have a minimum order quantity as such, so you can order exactly what you need.

However, keep in mind that, especially for processes like letterpress and foiling, the plate-making and setup costs are the same whether we’re printing 5 or 500 pieces. This means that for orders under 35 sets, the price difference is usually minimal. For larger orders, you’ll benefit from more cost-effective per unit pricing. Fill out our quote request form and one of our team will get back to you with a comprehensive quote.

We use a range of beautiful, high-quality papers to ensure your invitations make a stunning first impression! For letterpress and foil printing, our packages include a luxurious 450gsm 100% cotton rag paper in white or ivory, with an option to upgrade to an even thicker 600gsm paper.
For digital printing, we use a lovely 300gsm eggshell paper, available in bright white or soft ivory.

While white and ivory are our standard options, we also offer a variety of colours, textures, and handmade deckled edge papers for those looking to get creative.

Feel free to reach out to our team to explore our paper options and find the perfect fit for your invitations.

We certainly do! We are a full-service graphic design studio and can create almost anything you might need for your party. From wedding menus, acrylic welcome signage, seating charts, thank you cards, ceremony booklets, custom branded napkins, coasters and more!

Check out our On The Day items here and get in touch if you have any questions or special requests!

Yes. A 50% deposit is required upon acceptance of your quote and to book your stationery in for production.

The final balance of your order is payable prior to collection or delivery.

Booking an appointment to visit our studio is easy! Just reach out to our team at hello@yesterdaycreative.com or give us a call at 07 3189 1528.

If you have any specific ideas or inspiration you’d like to discuss, let us know beforehand. This way, we can prepare some examples to make your visit even more productive and enjoyable!

As part of our Signature Collection designs — and to keep design fees to a minimum — we can personalise our existing designs with your names and event details, with no changes to the overall aesthetic. However if you wish to personalise these styles a little more (e.g. change the typeface, add a custom monogram or include a map or illustration) additional design fees will apply and are charged at our standard Studio Rate of $99 inc GST per hour.

We can change the ink colours to suit your event theming. Changes to paper or envelope styles/colours may slightly alter the final price of your order depending on options chosen.

Unfortunately a white letterpress ink on a dark or coloured paper isn’t feasible. The white letterpress ink is not opaque enough and gets absorbed into any darker coloured papers, resulting in a muted appearance and will not have a crisp finish.

However, we can offer alternatives such as blind impression letterpress printing or white digital ink printing on suitable papers. Get in touch with the team to see discuss your ideas.

We certainly can! Email your artwork through to our team on hello@yesterdaycreative.com along with the quantity required, and any other info you think might help us to create a quote.

Please note that we will need you to supply the artwork as print ready pdfs with crop marks and at correct size. Digital print must be CMYK and letterpress artwork files require to be 100% black (K) vector artwork suitable to make film and plates.

If we have to update or correct your artwork to suit the process, this may incur a set up fee starting at $55, but we will let you know if that is the case once we see your final artwork files.

If you’re based locally, you are most welcome to collect your order directly from our studio. Our team will notify you when your order is ready and provide payment details for the remaining balance, as the final balance of your order is payable prior to collection or delivery.

If you prefer delivery, just let us know, and we’ll provide you with a shipping estimate.

We understand that guest numbers might change throughout the wedding planning process. We can adjust the quantity as long as print production hasn’t started yet.

Let's make magic!
